Manchester United vs Arsenal – Match Preview and Predicted XI

Manchester United face Arsenal at home on Saturday afternoon in Mourinho’s latest test as United boss. The Red’s sit 6 points behind the North London club and 8 points from top spot. The pressure is almost certainly rising for Mourinho who is in desperate need of a big result. Injuries are also beginning to pile up within the squad, and Jose has several selection woes defensively.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss his first league game of the season after picking up a suspension from an accumulation of 5 yellow cards, the striker’s absence might pave the way for Marcus Rashford to start up-front – the teen destroyed Arsenal in last season’s clash.

Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling will definitely miss the game through injury, whereas Valencia might recover in time. Luke Shaw has been passed fit by Mourinho, as well as Wayne Rooney, who was the centre of attention last week in the media for a drinking related incident at a wedding.

However, despite United’s misfortunes, Arsene Wenger has just as many troubles to overcome himself with Arsenal’s squad also suffering from injuries. Alexis Sanchez is carrying a hamstring injury, but managed to score twice for Chile over the international break. He will be assessed by Arsenal and it is 50/50 whether the forward will play a part. Hector Bellerin is out for a month with an ankle injury, whilst fellow Spaniard Santi Cazorla is also missing.

United go into the game with some fairly tasty stats in their favour. Mourinho is unbeaten in all 11 Premier League games he has managed against Arsene Wenger, having won five and drawn six as former Chelsea manager. However, this run of games in the Premier League is currently United’s third worst since 1992.

Here’s how we expect United to line-up against the Gunners:

De Gea

Darmian – Jones – Blind – Shaw

Herrera – Pogba

Mata – Rooney – Martial
